What are foldable straws called?

Collapsible or folding straws, mostly. Searching "foldable straw" is a mess, because most of what comes back is hats made of straw. Adding "reusable" or "metal" sorts the results out immediately. It is the fastest fix for a search that seems to return nothing useful.

What is the difference between a collapsible and a telescoping straw?

A telescoping straw is rigid segments that slide into each other to get shorter. A collapsible straw is a flexible tube that folds or coils down into a case. Telescoping gives you more seams, and seams are where residue sits. Collapsible gives you fewer, but the material has to stay flexible for years or the thing stops closing properly.

What are reusable straws made of?

Metal, silicone, glass, bamboo, and combinations of those. Each one trades something: metal carries temperature, silicone is gentler on teeth, glass shows you it is clean but breaks, bamboo wears out fastest and can pick up flavors. We compare them one by one in the comparison pages.
